Men & Unplanned Pregnancy

Not Just Her Problem

Many men who have a girlfriend or wife facing an unplanned pregnancy feel that they don’t know what to do. There may be so many pressures surrounding both of you forcing you to feel that a decision has to be made right now. You may feel that the decision is hers and not yours since she is the one carrying the baby. You may feel lost, angry, sad and even depressed — how did you get into this situation and where do you go from here?

The first step

The first step is to offer your support and offer to help her make the right decision for herself and your baby. You are the father of the child and she and the baby are where they are in part, due to you. This will not all go away and be forgotten, regardless of the choices you both make. You have created a life together and that life is in your hands. You need to be there. Many women who had abortions said they were waiting for their boyfriend or husband to support them and stop them. They felt alone, desperate, and that they had no other choice. You are now a father with a child, assure the woman in your life that you will stand by her and support her and that abortion does not have to be her only choice.

“As a guy there was no place to go to talk about my friend’s abortion. It wasn’t what I wanted. You listened real good. Thanks.”

How we can help

The mother needs to have her pregnancy medically confirmed. We can help both of you do that, our services are free and confidential.

You both also need to better understand all of your options and you have many options and people available to help you. Learn all you can before you make the most important decision of your life and your baby’s.

After an Abortion

Abortion Rights

It is hard to understand that a woman has all the rights over the unborn child, and can choose to have an abortion without the permission of the baby’s father.

Support for Men

Should you find yourself in that situation, please know that there are people that care about you and the loss of your child. Many men suffer post-abortively and we offer a support group to help men deal with the very real loss they are feeling.
